I got on several websites to see if something grabbed my attention and I found the perfect thing. A lovely white room with green accents. The white helped make the smaller room look a little bigger with less shadows. My room has tan walls with white doors and white trim. I even remembered to Pin the room that inspired my current project. Here it is:
Paint can be an inexpensive alternative to purchasing new furniture. So, given that I am on a tight budget, I chose to paint. I began with what I had hoped would be this lovely piece. I had the green paint and was ready to begin...
This happened:
And then this:
And this:
And then I quit.
That's what I do. I quit when I realize what a big and horrible mistake I've made. First of all, don't EVER try to take on a project like this when you're on a "tight budget". You buy shitty paint and shitty pans and shitty brushes and shitty rollers. Even better, I trusted the people at Home Depot to help guide me in the right direction, given my lack of experience. I'd explained to the gal at the painting counter that my room was approximately 12' x 12'. This is what she sold me (it was supposed to be enough):
Please note the size comparison.
I painted that ceiling, back and forth, back and forth. Suddenly, after getting maybe an 8th of the ceiling covered (only one coat, mind you), I realized I was already almost out of paint. Splatters of green had been hitting me all over my arms and face. I'm surprised my eyes aren't a lovely shade of lemongrass green now. They should be, given the massive amounts of paint that dripped into my eyeballs. I'm even impressed my fingernails hadn't taken on the green look. My hands appeared as if I just got out of preschool having just finished an awesome finger painting project I'd made for mommy and daddy.
Yeah...I stopped. I had to. I knew what would happen sooner or later, anyway...I'd simply...stop. So, since I knew I was going to throw in the towel and probably get all grumpy about it, I chose to end the battle between me, the paint roller and the shitty paint before I had an all out war on my hands. As it was, I had the paint all over my hands already. No need to make it worse. Eventually, when I have the motivation to battle this out again, I will and hopefully the pictures look better. Don't count on it, though. The idea of doing any more than one coat for that ceiling makes my back hurt and my eyes sting from the inevitable paint droppings like shit from a pigeon.
